The R&A and Golf Foundation has launched an exciting initiative in the Middle East, using Golfway Play equipment to introduce golf to new audiences and local primary schools across the region.

As part of the ‘Unleash Your Drive’ programme, the R&A will provide weekly golf classes featuring skill games and challenges designed to improve participants' coordination and mental well-being. PGA professionals, school teachers and volunteers can all deliver sessions thanks to the usability and accessibility of the Golfway Play equipment.

After its initial launch at the Tommy Fleetwood Academy at Jumeirah Golf Estates and Yas Links Golf Club, the programme will roll out across the UAE, Jordan, Oman, Lebanon and Bahrain.

Nick Horrocks, Golfway Director of Business Development said: "We are delighted at the success of the Unleash Your Drive campaign. We are excited to see it reaching new audiences outside of Great Britain and Ireland.

We are proud that the R&A and Golf Foundation use Golfway Play for their outreach projects. We hope that our equipment can continue to break down the sports barriers to entry and encourage more people to play golf regularly."

Neal Graham, R&A Regional Development Manager said: “This programme will provide opportunities for more young people in the region to experience golf through a tried and tested approach which enables teachers to deliver sessions and then encourage pupils to junior programmes offered by National Federations and golf clubs."

General Abdulla Alhashmi, Vice-Chairman of the Emirates Golf Federation commented: "The EGF and UAE Education Authorities have been working together on developing golf in physical education for a number of years. Introducing children to golf is integral for the growth of the sport and using physical education as a platform is a great pathway.”
