Home Run
ABOUT
Home run is essentially a hybrid game using a golf swing to play ‘rounders’. The key difference is that there is no ‘bowler’ or ‘backstop’ like in rounders – the ball is tee’d up by the player for them to take a shot and make their way round the posts to achieve a home run.
HOW TO PLAY
One team ‘bats’ while the other team fields. The ‘batter’ hits the ball forward on the Rounders Pitch using a Golfway iron and tee-mat. The batter then runs to as many posts as possible before the fielders return the ball to touch the post the batter is heading for.
If the batter reaches the 2nd or 3rd post in one hit, the batting team scores ½ a point. If the batter reaches 4th post in one hit, the batting team scores a home run (1 point).
Games are usually played over 2 innings with the aim of the game to score the most points.
This is an ideal game for families or school classes as traditional rounders games are played between two teams. Each team can have a maximum of 15 players and a minimum of 6 players. No more than 9 players may be on the field at any one time.
